It takes a lot to successfully market a business, most of the time we hope that our product or service is enough to get us that nice repeat business, but when we need to make a special push for a product What do we do if needed?

Website and email marketing.

Of course, there's plenty online to plaster your new product or service on your site. Setting a launch date and trying to get some hype for the new element of your business. Email marketing can deliver consistent results and is a great way to gently reach out to people you already know are interested in your business.

Social media.

A little easier for companies that are B2C because you have multiple windows that can literally put your message in the hands of your customer. The hard part is getting content to go on these networks and keep up with the trends.

Think about what your USP (Unique Selling Point) is and why people will be interested. The great news with social media is that it can be quite forgiving of the occasional dull or boring post and so you can test the waters and slowly find your tone.

In the house.

Get your staff excited about your product and then you'll naturally get word of mouth. You can try to incentivize sales of your new product or service with employee rewards. Get a buzz in the office. A staff that cares about what they are doing will work harder for you!

Print.

Make sure, especially if you're customer-facing, that your place of business has plenty of visuals to explain your new business feature. This should be attached to the details leaflet that you can give to your customers at the exit, or you can send them by post.

For example, you can minimize the product description and price to the size of an attractive plastic business card. Thinking a little differently, using different content, and defying conventions in marketing in a small way can really work to get customers' attention. A business card that isn't a business card...interesting.

Networking.

Be sure to get in touch with your local chamber of commerce as they will be sure to host local small business events. These are great places to meet like-minded business professionals who may hold the key to unlocking that new market or good business contact.
