Using this technology, industries and manufacturing units are collecting data daily and making their processes more efficient in every way.
Machine vision technology has many applications in various fields such as:
Inspection
One of the biggest applications of machine vision systems is the inspection of manufacturing lines and other unit areas in all types of industries. From the identification of parts to final assembly and packaging, any error can be a major setback for the entire line. However, with these systems, efficiency increases manifold as computer systems can identify defects and defective products.
Images of defective products are captured, which are then logged into the system and at the end of the line, they are simply removed.
take care of
Predictive maintenance has become a reality since the advent of machine vision systems. In an industry, machines are used daily and are prone to wear and tear.If the entire machine breaks down, it can cause a huge financial blow to the unit. However, with a machine vision system, data is collected to identify signals and notify before a major malfunction occurs.
Assembly
In manufacturing and assembly units that have high capacity and run day and night, it is important to ensure that the final assembled products meet the standards. There are many aspects of assembly like printing, sealing of bottles or packets, the position of caps, labeling, etc. that need to be taken care of.
Machine vision systems are used to get a complete 360-degree view of the process, which will increase productivity and production quality.
Barcode reading
Small appliances or parts always have a bar code that can distinguish each product from another. Initially, bar codes were read manually during final testing. But this turned out to be a time-consuming process and involved a lot of human error. This machine vision system is now used, which automatically read barcodes saving both time and cost.
3D inspection
In many industries, there are large and small parts that are assembled to obtain a final product such as electronics, automobiles, etc. However, a three-dimensional inspection should be performed to ensure that connections and assembly are not defective. In-place machine vision cameras and computers capture high-definition images that can create 3D images of components.
This will not only help in understanding the components and their circuitry but will also help in reducing defects in the product.
These systems are of great importance these days as they have reduced the operation and inspection costs manifold. They not only help in error detection but also make the units more automated.
